While my time in Lisbon was brief, it was nothing short of magical. And like I said in my blog post title… it was a little slice of Heaven. I wanted to take a few minutes to share with you a handful of the lovely activities I enjoyed while in Lisbon.
GOING ON A TUK TUK TOUR
You see these little motorized bike wagon type things?! HA. These are the tuk tuks! They are literally all over Lisbon, and you won’t be able to miss them scooting by! You can utilize these cute things for being transported from one location to another… or you can get a grand tour of Lisbon via a tuk tuk! One aspect of the tuk tuks that I love is that each tour of the city is customizable. Meaning… you can either take the advice of the tuk tuk driver on where to go, or YOU can tell them where to go. Just walk right up to them on the street and tell them what you want! Remember to bring CASH. These drivers do not accept card.
EATING AT FAUNA AND FLORA
Isn’t it just great when a restaurant is both super cute and ridiculously yummy?! Well, this is all that Fauna and Flora is! Talk about beautifully presented food, and healthy, as well! When you walk into Fauna and Flora, it’s like walking into a secret garden of deliciousness! No reservations are needed… so, just walk on in and enjoy!
TASTING ALL THE TYPES OF GELATO
I mean… you’re in Europe. You HAVE to taste all the gelato. There’s honestly a gelato shop on almost every corner in Lisbon. Just a word to the wise… in the smaller gelato shops, the shop employees probably won’t speak much English, if any English at all. So, please be respectful of that. A smile and hand gestures can go a long way!
GETTING LOSTS IN THE STREETS
This point is honestly my favorite. I sincerely believe that getting lost in any European city is a must. You will truly get a feel for the culture and where you are. It was when I was wandering the streets of Lisbon that I ran into my favorite gelato shop and saw some of the most sweetly colored houses. Don’t be scared of getting lost… but enjoy it!
RENTING A MOPED
Before thinking about doing this… WARNING. If you have never ridden a moped before or are not that comfortable riding a moped, do NOT ride a moped in Lisbon. This is a very busy city with mopeds everywhere. However, if you are a skilled moped driver, then I would highly recommend checking out LX Rent. This scooter shop is located in the heart of the city, has plenty of scooter rental options, and the staff is so incredibly nice! And seeing Lisbon via a moped is so fun!
STAYING AT A ROOFTOP POOL HOTEL
Nothing gets me quite as excited as a great rooftop pool! A great option is staying at the Epic Sana Lisboa Hotel. Besides being able to enjoy the sweeping views of Lisbon from the pool… the hotel is classically chic, and has one of the best breakfast buffets I have ever had!
Rent a car and head out to the Algarve region. I cannot stress this enough!! The Algarve region is one of the most pristine and gorgeous places in all of Portugal. From Lisbon, it’s about a 3 hour drive… each way. You can absolutely do the entire trek in a day, but I would recommend spending a few days out there. Make sure to hit up Lagos and Benagil Cave. These were my favorite places by far!
While I could have enjoyed Lisbon for a couple more days, I was so thankful for the small chunk of time I did get to spend in this glorious European city. Have you ever visited Lisbon? If so, tell me what you loved most about this city!
